Product Information for Health Professionals

Benefits compound when the ailing cardiovascular system is assisted by a Mechanical Circulatory Support Device (MCSD) in early stages of the disease. Since 2008 our team has worked on paradigm-shift concepts from left ventricular assist devices (LVAD), because the latter require major surgical intervention, are implanted directly onto the native diseased heart in late stages of the disease, require intensive patient care, and expose the patient to life-long risk of thromboembolism/stroke.
We address an unmet clinical need for improved, rapid, short-term cardiac support for multiple applications including:

  • acute heart failure (AHF);
  • acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF);
  • cardio-renal syndrome (CRS);
  • primary and high-risk percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI);
  • cardiogenic shock; and
  • related conditions.

Our prior work has verified that our heart assist device, called TAD (Percutaneous Interventional Cardiovascular Support – Temporary Assist Device) outperforms the current market leaders in critical performance areas, including:

  • reduced blood trauma and increased kidney perfusion;
  • significantly lower device rpm;
  • higher efficiency; and
  • higher efficacy.

PICS Therapeutics also owns technology on two other miniature pumps in the Percutaneously Implantable Cardiovascular Support field.
